Who MGMT Digital Is (30-sec version)

A boutique digital marketing agency focused entirely on behavioral healthcare โ€” addiction treatment, mental health, eating-disorder centers, ABA therapy, telepsychiatry, and adjacent providers. Their whole brand is "ethical marketing with a mission." Full-service: SEO, PPC, web design, branding, video, and a dedicated GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) offering.

Clients include Casa Serena (women's addiction/mental health/ED), Ritual Recovery (Asheville substance abuse), Parkdale Center, Northstar Recovery, Elevation Behavioral Health, C4 Consulting. Small, close-knit, WordPress shop (WP Engine + Rank Math). You'd report to the Director of Operations, who's strong in SEO.

"Why did you apply for this job?" โ€” Your Answer

"A few things pulled me in. First, the mission โ€” you do ethical marketing for behavioral healthcare, and I've spent the last couple years doing SEO in reproductive health and fertility. I know what it's like to market sensitive, high-stakes health services where trust and E-E-A-T aren't buzzwords, they're the whole game. YMYL content is its own discipline and I already live in it.

Second, the shape of the work. I currently run SEO and AI search across a portfolio of eight healthcare brands, so managing 10โ€“15 sites and staying organized across accounts is my normal, not a stretch.

Third โ€” the part I'm genuinely excited about โ€” the AI search piece. Most agencies still treat AI Overviews and generative search as a footnote. I've been actively optimizing for it, and I want to be somewhere that treats it as a core pillar. This role calls that out three times, which told me you're thinking ahead.

And the leadership angle. I've been operating pretty independently and I'm ready to help shape a department and grow into client-facing work. Reporting to a Director who's strong in SEO means I get to level up while I contribute โ€” that combination is hard to find."

Keep it forward-looking. Don't dwell on "why I'm leaving" โ€” frame it as "ready to shape a department + go client-facing."

GEO vs. SEO โ€” Say This Out Loud

SEO (table stakes)

Ranking in the classic blue-link results โ€” keywords, backlinks, technical health, content depth. Goal: be the click.

GEO (the frontier)

Being cited & synthesized inside AI answers โ€” Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini. Goal: be the citation.

One-liner: "SEO is table stakes, GEO is the frontier, and in behavioral health โ€” where families ask AI 'what's the best rehab for X' before they ever click โ€” being the trusted citation is everything."

๐Ÿ”’ Your Secret Weapon: Walk In With a Mini-Audit

You already looked at their site. That flips you from "candidate being graded" to "consultant already adding value." Below are real, verifiable findings pulled from mgmtdigital.com โ€” deliver them humbly ("I did a quick pass and noticed a few things I'd want to dig into"), since the Director is experienced. Lead with the GEO/FAQ one; it's the showstopper.

High impact ยท Ironic

Their GEO page is missing FAQ schema โ€” the exact thing that wins AI answers

Their SEO service page carries a full FAQPage schema with 7 Q&A pairs. Their GEO / Generative Engine Optimization page โ€” the one literally selling AI-search optimization โ€” has no FAQ schema at all. FAQ-style, extractable Q&A is precisely what AI Overviews and LLMs pull to cite. "The page selling AI-search visibility isn't itself optimized for AI answer extraction โ€” I'd add structured FAQ content there first."

Keyword cannibalization

Two near-duplicate posts targeting "how AI Overview will change SEO"

/how-ai-overview-will-change-seo/ and /how-ai-overview-will-change-seo-adapting-your-drug-rehab-marketing-strategy/ compete for the same intent. Plus several overlapping "SEO for mental health professionals" posts. I'd consolidate or clearly differentiate (canonical / 301) so they stop splitting authority.

Content hygiene

Duplicate "-2" slugs suggest leftover posts from a migration

/what-is-the-role-of-ethics-in-marketing-2/, /the-importance-of-directory-submission-in-seo-2/, /how-to-write-seo-friendly-content-2/. The "-2" pattern usually means an original still exists somewhere. Worth an audit to 301 the weaker version and reclaim link equity.

Technical / crawl

Crawl-delay: 10 in robots.txt throttles Bing & AI crawlers

Google ignores crawl-delay, but Bing honors it โ€” and Bing powers ChatGPT Search and Copilot. For an AI-search-first agency, a 10-second delay slows the very bots feeding the LLMs. Easy win to remove/relax it.

Growth opportunity

Only one location page (/north-carolina/) for a national agency

Big programmatic local-SEO opening: state/city landing pages ("behavioral health marketing agency in [state]") tied directly to the JD's local-SEO + citations responsibilities. Shows you think about scalable growth, not just fixes.

Also do this the night before (live AI-visibility check): In ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google, run โ€” and screenshot how/if MGMT shows up:
  • "best SEO agency for addiction treatment centers"
  • "behavioral health marketing agency"
  • "drug rehab SEO agency"
  • "marketing agency for mental health practices"
Then: "I checked how you currently show up in AI answers for your own money terms โ€” here's the gap and how I'd close it."
Why it works: It's proof, not talk. You demonstrate GEO fluency, real homework on them, and operator instincts โ€” while staying humble enough not to step on the Director's toes.

Likely Questions & Quick Answers

They askYou say (short version)
How do you manage SEO across 10โ€“15 sites at once? Systemized templates (keyword maps, title/meta maps, audit checklists), prioritized by impact, tracked in dashboards. I already run 8 health brands this way.
How do you optimize for AI Overviews / generative search? Extractable answer content (FAQ, definitional, comparison), strong entity/E-E-A-T signals, schema markup, citations on high-trust sources, and monitoring AI answer share โ€” not just rankings.
How do you handle E-E-A-T in a YMYL space? Named authors + clinical/medical reviewers, credentials, citations to authoritative sources, accurate and compassionate content, and trust signals (licensing, accreditations, reviews). It's core to how I do fertility/biotech content.
What's your link-building approach? Quality over volume โ€” digital PR, relevant health/industry directories, resource-page and citation opportunities, and cleaning up toxic/irrelevant links. Analyze the profile in Ahrefs first, then close gaps vs. competitors.
How do you measure and report success? Tie work to outcomes: organic visibility, qualified traffic, conversions/admits, plus AI-citation share. Monthly reports that show completed work โ†’ results โ†’ next-month plan, in plain language for clients.
Do you have client-facing experience? Yes โ€” I manage relationships with external agencies and stakeholders and translate SEO data into decisions. Comfortable growing into leading client conversations here.
Behavioral health is sensitive โ€” how do you market ethically? Accuracy over hype, no exploitative language, compliant with the space's rules, and content that genuinely helps people find real care. That "marketing with a mission" framing is exactly why this role appeals to me.
